Our front doors now look neater cleaner and more welcoming befitting a club of class and pride. The mens showers are now 98% complete, ladies changerooms to follow.
Projects planned for Marine SLC include a neater permanent braai facility for members use to take advantage of the balmy Durban summer and mild winter days.
Thanks to Terry Kinloch for the image rendering, now we just looking for some skilled bricklayers to come to our aid and assist with the building of our new braai.
Congratulations to Henry Harker
Congratulations to Henry Harker on his selection for the U17 Schools Waterpolo SA Team. Henry will represent SA at he EU Nationals Tournament later this year. What a fantastic achievement and one to be proud of.

Proud parents of Henry Harker SA Schools U/17 Water Polo team and Marine SLC member, strutting it out in their matching attire. Tracy and Billy can be seen most mornings training hard for the 2026 ICF CANOE OCEAN RACING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS being held in LA VILA JOIOSA, 9 – 11 October 2026 , where they will pose a strong threat to all competitors in the mixed double ski event. A threat to all not only in the ski racing but definitely in the fashionista stakes, the World ICF Best Dressed Couple Championship title is a calling.

Worlds Fund Raising
Our youngsters showing drive and initiative to start fundraising for World Champs in PE taking place end of November. This is the Marine spirit we want to see. In 3 quick early fundraising initiatives they have already made R10000. Thank you for supporting them and showing them that hard work and effort gets results.
The Dredger
The Dredger that you can see working offshore is responsible for giving us The Mound that delivers big juicy swell in summers Mozambique cyclone season and the Capes winter cold front season. The dredger dumps its sand load off North Beach beyond the shark nets to form The Mound as we know it, an area of shallow water due to all these sand deposits. Many of you will have seen large breaking surf off the South Pier at the harbour entrance on a big swell day. This is due to formation or buildup of sand that has accumulated off the end of the pier over time and looks like it wants to close the harbour entrance. Photos show how this sand build up has creeped around the end of the South Pier and has formed a beach along the pier that used to drop off straight into deep water. Appears that dredging is taking place lately to deal with this build up.
