Membership Fees Now Due – Let’s Keep Marine Thriving

A friendly reminder that membership fees for the new financial year have been invoiced and are now due. Your timely payment plays a vital role in keeping Marine Surf Lifesaving Club running at its best.

Membership fees directly support the day-to-day operations of the club — from maintaining and upgrading our facilities and equipment, to enabling training, patrols, and the events we all enjoy. Quite simply, strong early cashflow allows us to plan effectively and deliver the high standard of club experience our members expect.

We encourage all members to settle their fees as soon as possible. Your prompt support ensures that we can continue to grow, improve, and proudly serve both our members and the broader beachgoing community.

Please note that non-payment may result in the cancellation of membership. A final review of all outstanding membership will be conducted at the end of AUGUST, after which membership status will bereassessed.

Blast from the past

Looks like our old timers just can’t keep away, every week we are getting visited by past members who still have a solid connection to Marine SLC, could be the foundation laid in their early youth development by being initiated at their first away SA Champs, no one forgets those cherished moments. Lloyd Richardson popped in this week for a squiz at the club after all these years. A very useful beach sprinter and flags exponent in his day and an avid fan of his one and only Shark Net Party ever attended which lends itself to some humourous story telling. Lloyd is planning a relocation to Cape St Francis, where the recently formed St Francis Surf Lifesaving Club headed up by newly appointed Chairman Russell Sadler can look forward to Lloyds input on the committee as a probable Club Instructor .

Club Renovations Underway

Men’s showers tiling project is 90% complete, please be patient while we improve our club facilities. Should the men make use of the Ladies showers please obviously ensure that there are no ladies present, preferably by having a lady check first, then have some one on guard at the entrance to prevent ladies walking in whilst men are “quickly“ using the showers.

There is a lot of work going on around the club currently,

• Ceiling fans have been installed and working
• Veranda benches have been repaired
• Office floor has been laid with a new surface
• New back door has been installed as well as smaller projects

Helping hands to assist are most welcome and save us labour expenses, money which can rather be used to fund other needed projects around the club. If you are free and willing to help with any of these projects please get hold of Gary or Bambi.

Projects planned for Marine SLC include a neater permanent braai facility for members use to take advantage of the balmy Durban summer and mild winter days.
Thanks to Terry Kinloch for the image rendering, now we just looking for some skilled bricklayers to come to our aid and assist with the building of our new braai.

Worlds Fund Raising

Our youngsters showing drive and initiative to start fundraising for World Champs in PE taking place end of November. This is the Marine spirit we want to see. In 3 quick early fundraising initiatives they have already made R2000. Thank you for supporting them and showing them that hard work and effort gets results.

The friends. The fun. The challenges. The coaches who always have their backs. And a community that makes them feel right at home.
